Intern Quote
“
A typical day for me starts at 8am and ends around 4pm, but what I do each day is usually a little different. Most days I help out as a medical assistant. I room patients, take vital signs, and perform phlebotomy. On days where there's enough MAs, I spend most of my time as a Spanish interpreter. I've also been helping to fill in for their community health worker who sets up all the patient referrals to specialists and imaging services.
My summer at the GSFHC has given me valuable experiences and insights into healthcare for the underserved. I've learned so much about the many obstacles that the clinic patients face, but also have seen how I can work to remove these barriers as a future physician.”
